Professional cricket is coming to the United States. The inaugural match of Major League Cricket aired today. SANJAY GOVIL: So obviously, first of all, thank you very much for having us and promoting cricket in the US. We are a very happy customer. We’ve been doing this for many, many years. The USA has a history of cricket. It was the Philadelphia Cricket Club from the 1800s, when cricket was semi-popular in the US.

And in the last 15, 20 years, there have been many states and leagues where he has actually played cricket. That was the time when we felt we had an opportunity to have Major League Cricket and the Washington franchise team here in Washington.

SANJAY GOVIL: Absolutely. I would say most of them have played or are currently playing for their country. Not only that, we have players who have played in the Indian Premier League and other leagues around the world. So these are really, really household names that we have here in the US.

We are very respected and respected as first year players. And we’re really excited to see that. But American audiences are really excited to watch these actors act because we only see them on TV or in the countries where they are acting. But now they’re coming to the US and the games here are really big for us.

Sanjay Govil: That’s a very good question. So we’re building a stadium at George Mason University. And just to answer the previous question about where they can watch, right now it’s Dallas and Morrisville that are close to Raleigh, but we’re building stadiums across the city. Stadium DC will be on the campus of George Mason University. George Mason is the largest public university in Virginia.

I mean, from an American point of view, as a game, it has the same appeal as baseball or any other sport like that. How do you expand this type of appeal?

SANJAY GOVIL: Let’s expand them to know more. I say when I talk to people who grew up here, the good news is they’ve all heard crickets, which is great. There have been many crossovers between the US and cricket-playing nations. There are a large number of people who come here. Their children attend primary schools, junior high schools, high schools, colleges and universities. They are talking to their friends about cricket. This is how cricket is known.
